Equipment is the number the customer fixates on, but the install is where the job is won or lost. This template makes both visible.

Start using QuoteFlowSplit equipment from labor
Homeowners price-shop model numbers online and arrive convinced they know what the box costs. Show the equipment and the installation as separate lines. It moves the conversation to the part that actually determines whether the system lasts — the install — and it makes an online price comparison obviously incomplete rather than obviously cheaper.
Ductwork is the assumption that bites
A perfect system on undersized or leaking ducts will underperform and the customer will blame the equipment. Write down that the price assumes serviceable existing ductwork, and quote modifications separately. If you can, note static pressure readings — it turns a subjective argument into a measurement.
Hold the equipment price, in writing
Equipment pricing has moved sharply and unpredictably. State clearly how long your price holds. Thirty days is standard and reasonable, and saying so protects you from honouring a spring quote in the middle of an August heatwave at last year's cost.
